Pixel Pictures- an absolute safe space for children to learn by Prashanti Malisetti

Pixel Pictures - Founder, Prashanti - She is Key

The advent of televisions and mobile phones has had huge populations of children glued to those. It is evident that it has only been increasing. In these situations, one would certainly worry about the content that is being delivered to children through programs. Pixel Pictures, founded by Prashanti Malisetti has set off on a mission to provide quality content for children to watch, both on television and OTT platforms, where they get to enjoy while also absorbing what has to be learnt.

Malisetti started off with a high-profile Corporate Banking job. She shares that the job was something too monotonous for her, she had wanted new challenges after having done that job for nearly a decade. She thus took a break of nearly a year to reinvent herself and unlearn things. After talking to her long-time friend Director Sanjeev K Kumar and volunteering to intern in a few projects with him, she got to know how the entire process is carried out and what all a team invests in bringing out a show to the public.

All of this paved way to the launching of Pixel Pictures Limited, where they have already produced about 1,000 hours of content, having made its mark in the Kannada and Tamil industry with shows like Super Minute, the Kannada adaptation of Endemol Shine’s Minute to Win It; Dancing Star, an adaptation of BBC’s Dancing with the Stars; Family Power; Takadhimitha; Super Talk Time; Made for Each Other; and other shows for Kannada and Malayalam television viewers. This shows the passion of the team towards the expansion of Pixel. Not to stop at this, its vision is to produce 6,000 hours of content.

At Pixel, they understand well that India is a diverse country in many aspects, be it language, geography, lifestyle, culture, ideology, you name it. Delivering content to such diverse population stands as a challenge before them. They have thus begun sourcing to find the right local talent to make connections based on similar work ethics.

They also plan to create a VoD platform that focuses on kids and assures the parents of safe and informative contents specially designed for them. This banker turned CEO and Founder has now brought international content to regional television for the Indian audiences. This was done because she wanted to make sure that the content she was producing was something that was tried and all over the world and has gained popularity.

The nation has been having increasing exposure to world trends, and the demands have also taken shape likewise. For example, there has been increasing urge for watching more of refined content in terms of drama and plots of the story.

Sharing her experience, she says, “Our success has come from the game and reality shows. We created a trend in the Kannada market. We think it is time that we explore other markets. The growth of OTT platforms has also created newer opportunities for us in experimental storytelling and that’s something we’re keen to explore as well.”

She also speaks of how excited she is to bring out such content for children that ‘help them dream with their eyes open’ and waits to ‘weave those dreams with them’.
