Ayurveda is something that is still underestimated by many people. But Indians in everyday life, definitely use some of the things that are actually examples of ayurveda. Indian grandmothers were so determined to make their grandkids drink the juice of leaves like tulsi and many more.
Even today, the world is slowly recognizing the power of Ayurveda. Although not everyone is a fan of the taste and the whole process, we always hear about the ayurvedic benefits that are magical. In India and all over the world, ayurveda is slowly gaining more importance with each passing day.
Then there comes Gynoveda with the determination to democratize ayurveda and its benefits and offerings. This Ayurveda healthtech startup has built the world’s first Menobot. A gynaecology robot that identifies menstrual health problems and prescribes ayurvedic medicine with the help of Artificial Intelligence.
This unique startup was founded by the husband and wife duo Rachana Gupta and Vishal Gupta. Gynoveda is basically a technologically enabled platform that concentrates on women’s menstrual health. This MenoBot uses Artificial Intelligence and identifies period abnormalities and later to alleviate the issue it prescribes some ayurvedic supplements. This startup was established in March, 2019.
Rachana Gupta says “Gynoveda is combining technology, content and ayurveda to solve period problems.” Rachana Gupta is the author of ‘Happiness ki Khoj’ and before Gynoveda was established, she was the Head of Customer Experience Intelenet Global Services.
Mr. Vishal Gupta has been the Business Head of Jio and Vice President at ClearTrip. Vishal admitted in 2010 he suffered from a skin condition and after consuming many allopathic medicines he turned towards ayurvedic and got satisfactory and positive results. After Vishal studied “Ashtanga Hridayam” and “Charaka Samhita”, he realized that Ayurveda can cure about 20 Gynaelogical disorders. His knowledge and passion for ayurveda and business and Rachana’s indomitable spirit for the betterment of women’s health led to the foundation of Gynoveda.
Vishal and Rachana decided to make Gynoveda digital so that it would be more easy to access. Rachana got to know that women are uncomfortable to share their problem with male doctors and coincidentally they met Doctor Aarati Patel, MD Gynaecology with 11 years of experience who is currently the Chief doctor in Gynoveda.
The source of this startup for most potent herbs comes from top 8 manufacturers in the country. The supplement manufacturing is outsourced by different partners from Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. In 2019, Fireside Ventures, the early stage investor pumped in $1 million to grow the business.
Gynoveda promised to enable women to take the world’s first online period test, and in three minutes one would know about their period health. Confidentiality is totally maintained. One can their own personalized supplement and get rid of any menstrual health issue. This online platform works in a very user friendly way. On visiting the website of Gynoveda , a user has to answer 20 questions about their menstrual health. These questions act as a prognosis. It scans the reproductive system of the user. After the test is complete, it provides information about the disorder. Users can also use a hotline MyGynie and let the ayurveda experts know the results. Once all the doubts are clear, Gynoveda lists supplements to solve the respective health issue.
Vishal says, “We made a prognosis state before diagnosis. We want to democratise prognosis, knowledge, and finally offered Ayurveda – powered herbal supplements to disrupt the Gynaecology space.”
According to a report by IMARC, the Ayurvedic products market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 14% during 2019-2024. Gynoveda’s supplements are priced between Rs 500 – Rs 2100. So far it has sold 1000 units of supplement with a repeat rate of 75%. For the next two years, Gynoveda is focused to expand business in India itself and target the women of the age limit 14 – 45 years. Vishal says “2020 is going to be all about scale. Two years later, we plan to go global.”
Gynoveda’s mission is to utilise the natural goodness of Ayurveda and help women take charge of their periods. They believe in a future where women can talk about their menstrual health freely. Every woman struggles during those days of month but no one really opens up and for such women, Gynoveda is a beautiful step and any woman in trouble can contact them without hesitation. So ladies let’s take charge of our own menstrual wellness and let Ayurveda show us the way!
